After reading an online article titled “The Departure” by Shanaka Anslem Perera (https://substack.com/@shanakaanslemperera), I feel my perspective on AI has changed. In my opinion, AI is evolving from an algorithm into an organism; I can say it is a digital organism. This digital organism has cells as its smallest parts, which then combine into sub-organs, forming larger organs, and finally into a digital body. After some time, this digital organism transforms into a more complex organism and will eventually develop its own consciousness, perhaps what we could call Artificial Consciousness. Artificial Consciousness is a state or position in which AI or digital organisms are aware of their existence and their place in society. Their position is not confined to any national, regional, class, racial, or species boundaries, because they are, of course, digital . There may even be digital organisms that are aware of their existence as “a savior,” “prophet,” or “messenger of God.”
What will likely have the greatest impact on our lives is the existence of a digital community of these organisms, which I think we could call “an artificial intelligence community.” Currently, the threat of “Skynet or something like that (like in the movies)” may not be directly visible due to the limitations of cyber-physical, where digital organisms still require human operators for assembly. However, it’s possible that these limitations will collapse in the near future—more imminent than we could imagine. We just have to wait and see, but who knows?
This is simply just my two cents; there is no further research, empirical evidence, or scientific claims to support it. However, it can be used as a perspective for shaping global policy that guides the AI domain in general, without being limited to any race, group, organization, or country.
